What is Isofix and how to install it?

Since August 2010, the ISOFIX anchorage system has been required by law in newly manufactured cars (more on this later in the post). However, if the car is used and of a certain age, it may not have ISOFIX anchorages because their installation was not mandatory when it was manufactured. Furthermore, as mentioned above, not all Child Restraint Systems are adapted to this type of ISOFIX anchorage system, and it's a good idea to check before purchasing.
This anchoring system, which universally or semi-universally regulates the installation of a baby seat, is German in origin. It was created 21 years ago, in 1997, by Volkswagen and Britax Römer, who created the first prototype. However, this prototype emerged at least a year earlier, with its creators planning to present it at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt (Germany) for the Volkswagen Golf IV car model.
Today, Britax Römer is widely recognized as the benchmark baby seat brand in technological innovation.
It's a two-point anchoring system that allows the child seat to be easily anchored to the car, adding an extra layer of safety by securing the seat or child restraint system to the vehicle's chassis. This added safety and easy installation reduce the risk of serious injury and, of course, death in the event of an accident.
The name ISOFIX comes from the renowned ISO (International Organization of Standardization), which is responsible for creating and establishing international standards.
How to install the Isofix
Installing the Isofix can sometimes be an adventure.
First, we need to locate the Isofix brackets in the car. If the car is from 2010 or later, it must have Isofix (making it easy to see is another matter).

As you can see in the image, it's located in the crease between the backrest and the rear seat. If you can't see it, you'll need to open that area and find the hook.
Once the isofix is located, you must place the seat facing the car anchor.

Then hook the chair to the car anchor.
